· New draft of topic statement and student learning definition
Suggested topic statement: The QEP topic is to develop a program to improve the success of students enrolled in developmental mathematics.
Previous Draft: The QEP topic is to develop a program to improve the success rates of students enrolled in developmental math courses with a special emphasis on helping to improve the rates of success in College Algebra and Applied Math.
Suggested student learning definition: Student learning, in the context of the QEP, is defined as the student's mastery of the competencies within the developmental math curriculum.
Previous Draft: Student learning, in the context of our QEP, is defined as improved success completing the developmental math sequence, improved student success in developmental math classes, improved performance in College Algebra and Applied Math, and a more positive attitude toward the study of mathematics.
Rationale: This burns off the fat from the original wording. What we have removed is already implied and doesn’t necessarily need to be explicitly stated.
